The Rainforest Restoration Trust is the realisation of a project between TravelEssence of the Netherlands, Te Urewera Treks of New Zealand Aotearoa, and the local Maori of Te Urewera.

The aim is simple: to restore parts of the rainforest felled last century to its former glorious state as native rainforest.

How do we do it? By enabling visitors from overseas to plant trees as part of a guided walking experience in Te Urewera. It’s all about restorism.

Restore - • verb 1 return to a former condition, place, or owner. 2 repair or renovate (a building, work of art, etc.). 3 bring back (a previous practice, right, or situation); reinstate.
— DERIVATIVES restorable adjective restorer noun.
— ORIGIN Latin restaurare ‘rebuild, restore’.

Tourism -
• noun the commercial organization and operation of holidays and visits to places of interest.

Restorism - tourists taking an active role in restoring areas of natural beauty as part of a unique tourism experience for which they have paid.
